Credit Card Rewards – The Australian Perspective
Debb – Victoria
I travel a lot. Without a reward credit card it would be a lot harder to make any online bookings to book flights or hotel rooms. I keep to a small limit card, so if it gets lost or stolen or skimmed, there is only a small limit that can be taken. My reward credit card is easy to top it up from my bank account, anywhere in the world if more funds are needed. If I know that I am going to make a big credit card purchase like a cruise or airfares I just top up my credit card beforehand.

My reward credit card is easy, it is convenient, and above all it is save if you keep your wits about it and pay off your credit card balance on time each month. All of us when we started young couldn’t get a credit card and cash was the way of life back in the 80′s. So when we went to get a loan we had no credit history. so we got made to get ourselves in debt in order to get the things in life. Contracts, loans and credit cards are given out too easily to young people who have not experienced bill paying or budgeting.
Then on the other hand, we have to keep up with the times of the reward credit cards. Booking online holiday’s, shopping and other convenient services to make our life easier. If you can control and not over spend your weekly limit, a reward credit card can be your best friend. However if you go beyond your means of spending credit cards can be your worst enemy. Two minds for me on love or hate, but the key to any finance and credit is control of spending; do you really need it?

I am happy with gold reward credit card initiated by NIA because I got it for free lifetime no annual fee and Ascent membership. The rewards program is excellent – so versatile and many choices available – just wish I could use the card everywhere. With my new reward credit card from Westpac, that has low interest rate and no annual fee as well so that’s great too. With these 2 reward credit cards, I don’t need to carry too much cash and that is less risky if you get robbed, and you can cancel the credit cards anytime if they do get stolen or lost. I wouldn’t do without my reward credit cards. I’m able to use them wisely to my advantage by paying my debt off every month by bpay, by the due date so I get at least 55 days interest free. And my cash can earn interest in my savings account.
