We have all used our credit card in a variety of different stores, online, over the phone and over and over staff never seem to check your signature they more often than not assume that it is your card.

This may have been okay about 20 years ago but in today’s society, credit card fraud is increasing and people are not feeling as safe using them. You occasionally will get people that check your signature to verify that is is actually your card you are using, but more often than not people just don’t verify the signature.
Most credit card providers are joining the European style and issuing you with Pin Numbers when using your credit card. This seems to be a more secure and smarter option than just signing your card. We have to use a pin when drawing from our cheque or savings account so it seems even smarter to have a pin connected to your credit card especially if you have a rather large limit on your card.
Some credit card companies will contact you if there is irregular activity on your card but you need to be contactable via mobile and if you are not able to contacted overseas and someone uses your card this could be a disaster.
Most credit cards have this available just check with your bank before heading overseas. The best option when travelling would be a low rate interest credit card that has advanced security features.
Travelling with 100% cash is definately not a good idea, one alternative id to look into a Visa or Mastercard Debit Card. Rather than using a credit card you top up your debit card with all the cash you want to travel with, and use it with convenience at all facilities that accept major credit cards. Its make travelling a lot simpler and without the need to draw cash to pay for dinner, hotels or shopping sprees.
