Online Convenience – Credit Card Applications
The credit card application process has been revolutionized by the onset of the world wide web. The physical process of applying for a credit card has never been easier, with online credit card applications allowing you to apply for a credit card in a few minutes. Best of all you can apply from anywhere around Australia, as long as you have a computer and an internet connection. Before filling in your credit card application there are a few boxes that you need to tick to qualify, these include:
- Minimum age requirement of 18
- Minimum income requirement, which varies from credit card to credit card
- Credit history, work history and current financial situation
- Australian residency is a must
Credit Card Applications – The Australian Perspective
The credit card application process with Virgin was quick and easy. Virgin released their credit card a few years ago. While they didn’t offer rewards as with other reward credit cards what they did offer was no annual fee ever, a very low percentage 5% under most other cards, a great looking card, 30 days interest free on purchases and a super low balance transfer rate coming from other cards. More importantly however they offered one of the best call centers where the customer service was second to none. It has now been taken over by the NAB but I am continuing to get the same credit card deal as previously, so it hasn’t made a difference.

My credit card application with the ANZ was drama free and now I love my credit card because it is always there for me. My credit card is always with me, I carry it everywhere. I dislike my credit card sometimes as it it keeps jumping out at me yelling out, ‘swipe me, swipe me’ and that’s where it goes down in value. It’s always there to help me, except when it becomes maxed out, but that’s not an issue as the repayments are made on time. My poor little credit card is so blue (It’s an ANZ card) I would like to make it happier, but for now it will have to stay maxed out.

I don’t like that I do not have a credit card, but love that I don’t have any debt! I have filled in many credit card applications, but it seems no one likes single mothers who are unemployed, even though I’m responsible with money. I admire they’re beauty, I watch in awe and jealously when someone pulls out a beautiful pink credit card from their purse and purchases a lovely new pair of red shoes. Credit cards, what a magically little device!

When I was at a age where I was free and easy, had a job, had no ties, thought life was grand, I filled in a credit card application, the worst thing I could of ever done. I was young and naive and thought the credit card was power to buy what I liked, when I liked, what ever I liked. It was fantastic until I got the banking statement. I paid off the minimal amount and went right on spending. The ‘credit card’, better than having a boyfriend. It gave you happiness, it bought you things you wanted and it never complained. It just sat there looking at you saying “spend, spend”. I soon found out it wasn’t too much different to having a boyfriend. Have what you want, but pay me back later. My life turned from bliss to blah and I was left to drown in my own stupidity. 30 years on, never had a credit card since. If I can’t afford it, I don’t need it. That’s my motto.

I love my credit card. Impulse purchasing, generous offers to pay the dinner bill (after a few reds), impulsive cheap flights to God knows where. Finding so called bargain accommodation in Broome and with the thrill of a great deal still throbbing in my veins, splurging on expensive dinners. Always at the ready is my beloved credit card, a shame at the end of each month I turn a little suicidal when the credit card statement comes in the mail.
