Nine Emergencies When A Credit Card Comes In Handy
Lets face it there are times in you life when your credit card comes through for you in the crunch. Below are nine such occasions. Feel free to comment on any other situations where your credit card has saved you from a unexpected or potentially disastrous situation.
1 – A hot date scheduled before payday
There is nothing worse than finally landing the perfect date and coming to realize that you have no money in your bank account. This may be alright for a lady (Assuming chivalry is still alive and well) however this is a mans worst nightmare. For this occasion a credit card comes in handy at the end of the night allowing you to confidently take care of the dinner bill and help you save face.
2 – Unexpected trip to the dentist
So you have chipped your tooth eating a t-bone from you favorite steak house…It hurts and it is not a good look to have a smile such as Jim Carey, in Dumb and Dumber. With no money on hand this could become a problem, however having that handy piece of plastic in your pocket can keep you from pain and embarrassment.
3 – Car broken down on the highway
Have you ever been driving down the highway and passed “that guy” who has broken down on a rainy day, and thought “gee I am glad that’s not me”. Well guess what, one day that could be you. Unless you have an RAC account you will have to pay big bucks for a tow truck. It is safe to say that a credit card can save the day on this particular occasion. Post note – mechanics these days are not cheap.
4 – You forgot about your mothers birthday
Put your hand up if you know the date of your mums birthday. You would be surprised how many Australians forget about mums special day until the very last minute. If you forget to buy your mum a present, you know that the upcoming year will be a one of persecution and guilt. Last minute shopping for family special occasions is another valid reason, that credit cards are a worth while investment.
5 – Best friend decides to have a wedding in Bali
The trend these days is to have a wedding in an exotic/foreign location. Not only do your friends expect you to attend, you also have the pleasure to tell the boss that you need a week off work. Overseas travel is expensive at the best of times, when you add a friends wedding into the equation the numbers begin to stack up. On an occasion like this you may return home to Australia with your favorite credit card maxed out.
6 – You leave the air conditioner during a heat wave and get the electricity bill
Carbon tax is a hot topic at the moment, Australians enjoy being able to sit in luxury while the air conditioner is blasting away keeping every room in the house nice and cool. Over the past few years there have been numerous heat waves over many states in Australia…Lets face it carbon tax or no carbon tax you are going to find a way to keep cool. The only problem is that one day you will have to get the mail and open that electricity bill from your trusty local energy company…Ouch
7 – You drop your brand new iPhone 4g on the ground….again
On average you will break your iPhone five times throughout your life (Stats not verified by the bureau of statistics). There is nothing worse than watching your favorite mobile device fall out of hands and hit the hard tile floor. The feeling of despair and anger overtakes your emotions as once again you have broken your iPhone. But that’s ok, your telco company already has your credit card details on hand as you are no stranger to them.
8 – Your favorite football team somehow made the grand final
Your favorite football team was picked to finished dead last this year. By some miracle of god that have made the finals, not only have they achieved this outstanding feat but they have somehow managed to make it to the grand final. Tickets sell out fast to the AFL or Rugby League/Union grand finals and scalpers have a tendency to offer tickets at a price you will need your credit card to pay for.
9 – You have a bad break up and need some new clothes for a night on the tow
We have all been there, the one you love all of a sudden decides to make a move in another direction and now you find yourself single and slightly heart-broken. There are two ways to deal with this, firstly stay at home and wallow in a filth of self-pity. Secondly you could treat yourself to a new hair cut, gym membership and a new night clubbing out fit, to make your grand reappearance on the singles scene. An expensive day at the shopping mall may hit your credit card bill hard, but it may be worth it if you happen to run into your ex at the night club.
