As a rule of thumb, travel insurance cost, as a percentage of total travel cost should not exceed 5-7 per cent. Since there is hardly any real difference in the kind of inclusions that different travel insurance companies have to offer, it makes sense to compare and negotiate extremely hard with respect to the insurance premium amounts. After all, it must be kept in mind that every penny saved in terms of travel insurance cost could actually be added to pamper the traveler, while he/she is actually on the move.
